Tortoreto
With its 4 km of beaches, Tortoreto is one of the many places to visit during the holidays in Abruzzo, offering its visitors events and characteristic views. From Club Hotel Le Nazioni it takes less than an hour's drive to reach Tortoreto, with the constant company of the sea at your side. In Tortoreto stands out the Clock Tower who, like a guardian, watches over this medieval village of which it is still possible to see some remains of the surrounding walls, built in ancient times.
Unique churches to visit
- La Church of Santa Maria della Misericordiabuilt in the 16th century, preserves an interesting cycle of frescoes depicting the Passion of Christ and is described by Boccaccio in the Decameron; while the parish church of San Nicola di Bari preserves an organ of exquisite workmanship.
- The Church of Sant'Agostino, built together with the convent, houses a particular terracotta statue of the Madonna and Child.
Events
Among the events to follow in Tortoreto we point out the Festival of typical productsi and the Fish Binge held in August.
In the same month there is also the Palio del Barone, a re-enactment of the marriage between two members of noble houses in the thirteenth century, accompanied by games, dances and parties in period costumes.
