Silvi Alta
The village with the sea in the background
A leap into the past of the villages of Abruzzo while admiring the sea from afar: Silvi Alta.
Its city walls can be seen clearly even from afar. The village stands more than two hundred meters above sea level and above the modern part of Silvi Marina, which is instead located along the coast.
Silva, Castel Belfiore or Castrum Silvi, various historical names of present-day Silvi, which lies in the hills of Città Sant'Angelo and Atri.
Silvi Alta was founded during the Middle Ages, was later a Benedictine fief of the diocese of San Giovanni in Venere of Lanciano taking part in various wars of conquest.
Don't miss the Viewpoint of Silvi Alta, among the FAI's "Luoghi del cuore" (places of the heart).
